Good light management can be hugely beneficial in terms of saving energy in buildings as it allows us to regulate increases and decreases in light and heat.

The colour, thickness and openness of a fabric influence the absorption of calorific light. This is a determining factor in preventing higher use of air conditioning and/or heating. Furthermore, it inhibits an excessive difference in light between buildings exposed and unexposed to direct sunlight thereby making it possible to reduce the need for artificial lighting.
